European Corporate Security Pay January
2009
The SSR® Executive Profiles
corporate salary survey accesses
over 3,000 senior
managers across Europe who have
responsibility for the function of
security in a number of sectors:
financial services, transport,
manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, oil
and gas. In general terms salaries
have remained static, although there
remains upwards pressure in basic
remuneration for those with pan
country responsibility.

Security is that
misunderstood word
which holistically means
‘health’ rather than the
traditional non-pragmatic
‘response function’. In the
current economic conditions
there will be opportunities for
you to deliver greater benefits
than in the past.
In 2009 security executives
are an organisation’s health
advisors, measuring many risks,
identifying the potential
outcomes, mitigation and
defending the reputation of the
organisation’s brand.

Getting a Job in the UK Security Industry
Security is high on the UK agenda and now there is virtually no
major public
or private organisation without a team dedicated to
managing issues of
security. The market is strong and rapidly
expanding.
Operational managers, like most of us, tend to spend little of
their time recruiting
people and so often have a view of recruitment that is based on
their own
situation and background and not impartial, says Peter French, of
recruitment
company SSR®.
For the Olympics you have to develop an approach to a security
culture
that
balances volunteers and paid workers to cover the functions of
security,
supervised by technology.
The short listing of candidates from the multiplicitous CVs that
come into
HR
departments every day was, just a few blinks of an eyelid ago, a
moribund
subject.
